Yesterday, we had the official UNIFICATION SERVICE for Heritage and Grace. Let me tell you how awesome it was.
It was AWESOME.
We baptized four new believers who have been journeying with us for the better part of a year. We saw five people join the membership, and we had over 100 people in attendance. It was extraordinary.
Over the past couple of months, I have been preparing a series for this unification stage and teasing it with the slogan: 1+1=?
On Sunday, we revealed that 1 church from Hooksett + 1 church from Merrimack = 1 church glorifying THE ONE, Jesus Christ. In brief, our church is not an accident and Jesus needs to be the focus of our worship. I am exciting about this sermon series, which is a journey through Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians.
As a side note, I have been visiting with folks from both of the former congregations, and they have been such a huge blessing to Nichole and me. (BTW, that is current pronoun usage since it is a prepositional phrase.) Nichole said to me, “We should treasure these people.” And she is right. The people God has called us to join with are amazing people from all kinds of walks of life.
Don’t believe me? So far, we’ve met a couple from South Africa, two retired missionaries to Japan who are still sassy and youthful, an engineer from BAE Systems who works on the JSF, an employee placement agent, heard stories about everything imaginable and laughed so hard we’ve almost fallen out of our chairs. We’ve also eaten better than we have in a decade!
